In order to fully implement the overall national security concept and actively respond to major strategic needs of the country and society, Jiangxi University of Science and Technologyofficially established the School of Emergency Management in May 2020. In June 2022,it was later renamed as the School of Emergency Management and Safety Engineering.

At present, the School offers undergraduate degrees in3majors, namely Safety Engineering,Administrative Management, and Emergency Management. Among them,Safety Engineering is a first-class majo rconstruction point in JiangxiProvince, a characteristic major in Jiangxi Province,as well as a branded major in Jiangxi Province’s universities.Administrative Management is also a first-class major construction poin tin Jiangxi Province.Emergency Management holds the distinction of being one of the first-batch undergraduate majors within the National Emergency Management Catalog and the first Emergency Management major in Jiangxi Province. The School offers 5 academic master’s programs, including Public Safety and Emergency Management, Safety Science and Engineering, Law and Administration, Management Science and Engineering (Emergency Management Track), and Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Engineering. There are 2 professional master’s programs, including Master of Public Administration(MPA) and Safety Engineering.Additionally, it provides training courses for students aspiring to pursue doctorate degrees in Mining Engineering, focusing on the Safety Engineering track and the Mine Emergency Management track.

The school has 45 faculty members,including 8 professors, 12 associate professors, and 24 doctoral teachers, constituting 75% of the full-time teachers.This esteemed faculty includes noteworthy individuals such as1 high-end talentin technological innovation of Jiangxi Province’s“Double Thousand Plan”,2 leading talents in innovation of Jiangxi Province’s“Double Thousand Plan”,1 Young Jinggang Scholar of Jiangxi Province, 1 talents elected by Jiangxi Province’s“Hundred, Thousand, and Ten Thousand Talents Project”,1 member of Jiangxi Province’s“Outstanding Young Talent”,and 2 excellent young and middle-age dacademic leaders of Jiangxi Province’s colleges and universities.

Demonstrating a high academic standard and numerous scientific research achievements, the school has won more than 50 national, provincial, and ministerial scientific research projects and awards, with a research funding of over 10 million RMB.More than 100 high-quality academic papers indexed in SCI, CSSCI, and EI have been published. By guiding students to participate in various teaching competitions and practical skills competitions at all levels,the School has won more than 100 national and provincial awards. The students cultivated by the School exhibit high quality, and the employment situations of graduates are excellent,with a stable employment rate of more than 95%.

The School has been approved as the“Emergency and Safety Intelligent Learning Workshop Project”organized by the School Planning,Construction, and Development Center of the Ministry of Education and the Publicity and Education Center of the Ministry of Emergency Management, with the“Jiangxi Mining Engineering Key Laboratory”and the“Jiangxi Mining Engineering Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center”jointly established. Recognized asthe“Key Laboratory of Industrial Safety and Emergency Technology in Ganzhou City”,“Ganzhou Comprehensive Emergency Technology Innovation Center for Multiple Disasters”, and“Ganzhou Rural Revitalization Research Center”, it has also established the“Innovative Research Center of Emergency Management and Multi-interdisciplinary of Jiangxi University of Science and Technology”.

The School actively adapts to the national demand for emergency management talents, promotes the combination of politics, industry, academia, research and application, and signs strategic cooperation agreements with relevant government departments, enterprises and institutions such as the National Mine Emergency Rescue Huaxi Team, Jiangxi Provincial Emergency Management Department, Ganzhou City Emergency Management Bureau, etc. It has carried out training in safety production and emergency management for management cadres and technicians of government management departments, enterprises and institutions, and production and operation units at all levels in the country, providing strong scientific and technological support and intellectual support for industry and regional development.
