The Emergency Management major of Jiangxi University of Science and Technology, newly established in 2021, is the first major of Emergency Management in Jiangxi Province. It is related to the fields of Management Science and Engineering and falls within the Management umbrella. This emerging major combines the knowledge of different disciplines such as Management Science and Engineering,Safety Science and Engineering,Public Management,Computer Science and Technology,Law,Psychology,Economics,Big Data Science,etc.Emergency Management uses multi-disciplinary and comprehensive knowledge to manage emergencies in the whole life cycle of emergency management as a significantly interdisciplinary subject.
The major of Emergency Management has 9 full-time teachers,including 1 professor and 8 lecturers. Among them, there is one young and middle-aged professional leader in Jiangxi Provincial colleges and universities, and one young and middle-aged backbone teacher in Jiangxi Province. The majority in our faculty members are young to middle-aged educators who have all earned doctorates from Chinese double first-class universities including Huazhong University of Science and Technology,Central South University and Chongqing University in Public Health Management,Safety Engineering,Mining Engineering, etc. It has been featured with reasonable educational backgrounds, knowledge structures, and age structures.
It comprises of experiment centers, professional laboratories, and many off-campus practice teaching bases such as Emergency Safety Intelligent Learning Workshop,Ganzhou Industrial Safety and Emergency Technology Key laboratory,Ganzhou Multi-disaster Comprehensive Emergency Technology Innovation Center, Emergency Decision-Making and Simulation Training Room, as well as Emergency Search and Rescue Laboratory. Consequently, it has perfect experimental facilities and excellent teaching conditions.
The academic stationcan provide students with postgraduate courses about Public Safety and Emergency Management,Management Science and Engineering (Emergency Management Track) and award students the Master of Public Management (Emergency Management Track) degree and the Doctor of Mining Engineering (Mine Emergency Management Track) degree. Initially, it has built a talent training system that covers bachelor, master, and doctor education. This major, viewing technology as its characteristic and management as its foundation,is mostly focused on Management Science,Safety Science and Engineering,Public Management. It focuses on the aspects of emergencies such as prevention, preparation, response, and recovery, and it develops sociable talents with the theoretical underpinnings of transdisciplinary fields, who methodically grasp the emergency management knowledge system and are capable of practical problem-solving in the fields of emergency management technologyand management engineering.
